The short version of how Cadlite works before you open your first drawing.
Is the editor really free?
Yes. Drawing, editing, layers, blocks, dimensions, saving, autosave and exporting to DXF, JSON or PDF are free, with no time limit or card. Tokens are only used for AI work and DWG conversion; the Usage page shows exactly what uses them.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Cadlite runs in a modern browser, with no download, plug-in or licence server.
Can I open DWG and DXF files?
Yes, both. DXF files are read right in your browser. DWG files are converted on our servers, which uses tokens based on the file's size - and so does exporting as DWG. Exporting to DXF is always free.
Will it feel familiar if I use AutoCAD?
If you use AutoCAD, the workflow will feel familiar: command aliases, object snap, grips, layers, blocks, dimensions and hatch. Cadlite is an independent product and is not affiliated with Autodesk.
What uses tokens?
AI work - tracing a plan, analysing a drawing, preparing a take-off or making changes for you - and DWG conversion. AI costs depend on the task and model, and the model picker shows each model's rate before you start. DWG conversion costs depend on file size.
Do tokens expire?
A monthly plan's tokens are for that month. Whatever is left when the month ends does not carry over, and the next month starts again with the plan's full allowance. Tokens from a one-off pack stay in your balance until you use them.
Can my team work on the same drawings?
Yes, with an organization account. Drawings are saved to the cloud, and any member can share one with the organization so everyone else can open it and save their changes. Only the person who shared a drawing can delete it.
What happens when tokens run out or my plan ends?
If tokens run out, the assistant and DWG conversion wait until you add more; drafting, saving and exporting remain free. If a plan ends and your drawings no longer fit the storage available, Cadlite gives you 14 days' notice in the app and by e-mail to download, tidy up or renew before the oldest over-limit drawings are removed.
